The Yankees today are hosting a special Halloween event in front of Yankee Stadium's Gate 2 entrance on 164th Street and Jerome Avenue until 6:00 p.m. For the second consecutive year, local children have the opportunity to dress up in their favorite Halloween costumes and take part in a special "trick or treat" session, while front office volunteers dress up and offer candy to kids in a safe and fun environment.
On Tuesday, November 11, the Yankees are once again partnering with the USO to stuff approximately 5,000 gift packages to be shipped to the men and women of the Armed Forces during this holiday season. Yankees front office employees, service members and veterans will be present to help prepare these packages for those serving in our Armed Forces.
On Thursday, November 20, the Yankees will partner with Krasdale Foods to hold their annual Thanksgiving Food Voucher Giveaway. Approximately 2,500 food vouchers will be distributed to Bronx residents beginning at 10:00 a.m. to assist local families in preparing their Thanksgiving meals. Families are invited to come to Yankee Stadium to pick up a food voucher, which can be redeemed at local Bronx-based C-Town and Bravo supermarkets (while supplies last).
One day later on Friday, November 21, the Yankees and Legends Hospitality will provide a Thanksgiving meal for several hundred local residents at the Supportive Children's Advocacy Network (SCAN). Located in the Bronx, SCAN has provided support to thousands of New York City-based at-risk families since 1977.
On Thursday, December 4, the Yankees will partner with Community Board 4 (CB4) to host the 2014 4 + 44 Awards Ceremony in the Audi Club at Yankee Stadium. During the event, Bronx police officers and firemen will be recognized for their commitment to making a difference in the lives of CB4 residents.
Yankee Stadium's Great Hall will once again transform into the North Pole on Friday, December 12, when the Yankees organization plays host to the 2014 Winter Wonderland. This event will treat several thousand local youth to a holiday extravaganza complete with holiday decorations, festive music, food and drink, as well as a holiday gift for each child in attendance. Approximately 5,000 local children enjoyed last year's event.
On Wednesday, December 17, the Yankees, along with members of the Bronx clergy, will hold their 21st annual Holiday Food Drive from 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Non-perishable food will be accepted at Yankee Stadium's Gate 2 entrance. Fans who donate at least 30 pounds will receive a food voucher good for two tickets to a designated Yankees home game in 2015. All food collected will be distributed to families in need throughout the Bronx. In addition, the Yankees will donate approximately 2,500 food vouchers to the recipients of the collected food items.
For the fifth consecutive year and in association with the New Era Pinstripe Bowl - scheduled to be played this year on Saturday, December 27 - the Yankees will also host two events with the Public Schools Athletic League (PSAL):
The Yankees will host the 2014 PSAL Varsity City Championship Football game at Yankee Stadium on Tuesday, December 9, at 5:00 p.m. In 2013, approximately 3,000 fans were in attendance to witness the Abraham Lincoln High School Railsplitters of Brooklyn and the Tottenville High School Pirates of Staten Island compete for the City Championship.
On Tuesday, December 16, the 2014 MVP Scholar Athlete Awards Ceremony will take place in the Legends Club at Yankee Stadium. The night will honor 11 scholar-athletes from each of the five boroughs of New York City and will recognize these individuals for their outstanding academic and athletic achievements. In addition, the 55 scholar-athletes will be recognized on field during the New Era Pinstripe Bowl on Saturday, December 27.
