Kansas City Royals Minor League pitcher Kyle Zimmer has successful shoulder surgery
KANSAS CITY, MO (October 28, 2014) - The Kansas City Royals announced that right-handed pitcher Kyle Zimmer had successful minor shoulder surgery this afternoon by Dr. David Altchek in New York. He had a small debridement of his rotator cuff and labrum.
Zimmer, 23, was the Royals' first-round pick (fifth overall) in the 2012 June Free Agent Draft. He made six appearances and five starts for Idaho Falls (Rookie) in August/September, posting a 1.93 ERA with four walks and five strikeouts in 4.2 innings. He had also made three starts for the Peoria Javelinas in the Arizona Fall League earlier this month.
