Orioles outright right-hander Johnson

The Orioles outrighted right-hander Steve Johnson to Triple-A Norfolk on Friday.

The 27-year-old went 0-3 with a 6.23 ERA in 17 starts between Norfolk, short-season Class A Aberdeen and the Gulf Coast Orioles this year.

Pitching for the O's in 2012 and '13, Johnson combined to go 5-1 with a 3.67 ERA in 21 games. Johnson had surgery on Sept. 24 to remove a bone spur in his right shoulder.

Baltimore now has 39 players on its 40-man roster.
