Torn fingernail not major issue for Machi

SAN FRANCISCO -- Giants right-hander Jean Machi is expected to be physically fit to pitch on Tuesday for Game 3 of the National League Championship Series, which can be seen on FOX Sports 1 at 1 p.m. PT, despite sustaining a torn fingernail on the pinkie of his throwing hand.

Machi hurt himself while playing catch Monday, but Giants head athletic trainer Dave Groeschner did not consider the injury serious, saying, "It's all good."

Machi led the Giants with 71 regular-season relief appearances while posting a 7-1 record with a 2.58 ERA. He has recorded a 7.71 ERA in three postseason outings, including a one-third-inning stint in Sunday's Game 2 of the NLCS, when he allowed pinch-hitter Oscar Taveras' seventh-inning home run.
