Rangers interview Cash for managerial position

ARLINGTON -- The Rangers continued their interviews with candidates for their managerial position by meeting with Indians bullpen coach Kevin Cash on Thursday.

The Rangers are expected to meet with interim manager Tim Bogar and Puerto Rico winter league executive Alex Cora on Friday. The Rangers are hoping to name a manager by the beginning of the World Series.

Cash has spent the past two seasons as bullpen coach of the Indians after spending one season as the Blue Jays' advance scout. He spent parts of eight seasons in the Major Leagues as a catcher with the Blue Jays, Rays, Red Sox, Yankees and Astros.

He played his last professional season with Triple-A Round Rock in the Rangers organization where he caught club officials' attentions as someone with a bright future in the game.
