WASHINGTON -- Nationals manager Matt Williams announced his rotation Thursday for the first three games of the National League Division Series against the Giants. Right-hander Stephen Strasburg will start Game 1 (Friday at 3 p.m. ET on FOX Sports 1), while Jordan Zimmermann and Doug Fister will start Games 2 and 3, respectively.
Williams declined to say who would pitch Game 4 on Tuesday (if necessary), although he could go with left-hander Gio Gonzalez. Washington's postseason roster also has not been decided yet, and it doesn't have to be announced until Friday. Williams said he wanted to see the team practice one more time before he makes a final decision.
"We're going to get through today's workout and make sure that everybody comes out of that good and make sure that everybody is healthy and feels good about it, and then we'll be able to announce [the final roster]," Williams said. "But we have to get through this workout today and make sure."
The team has not decided if reliever Rafael Soriano will be on the playoff roster. Soriano has been shaky since he lost the closer's job to Drew Storen in early September.
"Well, we'll determine the final roster when we get out of this workout," Williams said. "Those decisions will be made and everybody will be aware of those when we go ahead and announce it, but we haven't announced that yet. That will be forthcoming pretty shortly."
