Aybar followed brother's path from DR to MLB

Erick Aybar, SS, Angels
Hometown: Bani, Dominican Republic

Erick Aybar was the skinnier, smaller and slower brother growing up in the Dominican Republic. But that's OK when your brother makes his Major League debut at 22 years old.

As a kid, Erick's brother, Willy, garnered all the attention while the pair grew up poor in the southern part of the Dominican Republic. Willy ultimately played five years in the Majors, most recently in 2010 with the Rays, and paved the way for Erick to become a mainstay in the Angels' lineup as their shortstop.

Erick and Willy were two of seven children who grew up in a small home that would float away to the edge of a river if it rained heavily enough. The rain would dampen their stuff and force Erick to stay at the local school.

Aybar made his first All-Star team this season.
