Crawford lived in Menlo Park, Calif., until he was seven, when his family moved to Pleasanton, so he's Northern California through and through.
He grew up a Giants fan and regularly attended games at Candlestick Park, where his father had season tickets on the third-base side. Crawford can remember getting to walk on the field at the 'Stick as a fan for the penultimate baseball game played there. He also remembers being at a 2000 playoff game against the Mets and also the '02 World Series against the Angels.
Before attending UCLA, Crawford was a standout two-sport athlete at Foothill High in Pleasanton. He batted .357 in three years on the varsity baseball team, and he also played both quarterback and safety on the football team.
