Farrell to manage All-Star Series in Japan

BOSTON -- Red Sox manager John Farrell will lead a group of Major League All-Stars in Japan in November, Major League Baseball has announced.

Ron Washington was supposed to manage the squad at the All-Star Series, but he resigned from the Rangers recently.

This is the first time the Major Leagues have sent an All-Star squad to Japan since 2006.

Robinson Cano, Adam Jones, Yasiel Puig and Albert Pujols are among the stars expected to play.

The games in Japan will take place from Nov. 11-20.
