Jays Care ChangeUp event celebrates success

Young Professionals feted for fundraising more than $150K for foundation

Jays Care ChangeUp event celebrates success

On Sept. 12, over 200 guests made their way to Rogers Centre for the YP ChangeUp Celebration Event. The event was held to recognize and honour the Jays Care Young Professionals for raising over $150,000 in support of Jays Care Foundation.

"Tonight is just a fun night to celebrate the ChangeUp Campaign," said Jays Care Young Professionals Committee Chair Josh Koziebrocki. "We've thrown a variety of different fundraising events throughout the year, and managed to raise just over $150,000 in support of Jays Care. I'm incredibly proud of how many people we've managed to engage in this campaign and how much awareness we've been able to raise toward the fact that there's kids in our community who don't have the same privileges and resources that many take for granted."

"This entire campaign has been pretty amazing," said Mike Freckleton, a Young Professional member since 2013. "I've always wanted to get involved in the community and never really knew how. I love baseball and this just seemed like a perfect fit."

Freckleton and a friend persuaded their rival accounting firms to host a softball game in support of Jays Care and raised $2,400. An extraordinary effort that was amazingly matched my many other Young Professional members.

Jays Care Foundation extends a sincere thank you to all members of the Jays Care Young Professionals for their tireless work throughout the 2014 Toronto Blue Jays season. Congratulations!
