Lowrie exits with left foot contusion

OAKLAND -- Jed Lowrie exited Sunday's series finale against the Phillies with a left foot contusion.

He was hit in the foot by an A.J. Burnett pitch in the first inning but stayed in the game until the fifth, when Nick Punto replaced him at shortstop.

Lowrie made a clean play on a third-inning grounder but fought throw some pain to do so.

"He's all right," said manager Bob Melvin. "Just got it pretty good on the foot. As a shortstop you have to have your range, and on the ball in the hole he was having a little trouble getting over there."
