BALTIMORE -- Shortstop Xander Bogaerts left Sunday's 3-2 win in the second inning with stiffness in his neck. He is expected to return to the lineup when the Red Sox open their final homestand of the season on Tuesday night against the Rays.
"He was hit with a ball on a ricochet in BP in the cage," said manager John Farrell. "After his first at-bat, his neck started to stiffen further, and we got him out of there."
Jemile Weeks subbed for Bogaerts and went 2-for-3 with a walk and a run scored.
