Left fielder hurt landing awkwardly on diving catch in San Diego

Brown day to day with right wrist tenderness

OAKLAND -- Left fielder Domonic Brown is day to day with right wrist tenderness, Phillies manager Ryne Sandberg said after Friday night's 3-1 loss to the A's.

Brown landed awkwardly on his wrist while making a diving catch in San Diego on Thursday, and he was a late scratch on Friday after experiencing discomfort during batting practice.

With the A's throwing three left-handers this weekend, it's a convenient time for the left-handed-hitting Brown to rest before the final week of the season. He was not in the lineup on Saturday against southpaw Drew Pomeranz.

In 452 at-bats this year, Brown has 10 home runs, 61 RBIs and a slash line of .237/.288/.356.
