Philadelphia's Papelbon disciplined

Pitcher Jonathan Papelbon of the Philadelphia Phillies has received a seven-game suspension and an undisclosed fine for his actions following the top of the ninth inning of the Sunday, September 14th game against the Miami Marlins at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia. Joe Garagiola, Jr., Senior Vice President of Standards & Operations for Major League Baseball, made the announcement.

Papelbon will begin serving his suspension tonight, when the Phillies open their road series against the San Diego Padres at Petco Park.
