Bochy unsuccessful with first-inning challenge

SAN FRANCISCO -- With first place in the National League West on the line between the Dodgers and Giants this weekend, manager Bruce Bochy isn't going to leave much up to chance. Hence a replay challenge in the first inning on Friday night.

With one out and Yasiel Puig on second base, Adrian Gonzalez lined out to first baseman Joaquin Arias, who fired to second. Puig dove back to the base, and second-base umpire Adam Hamari ruled Puig safe.

Bochy challenged the call, and after further review, the umpires ruled the call would stand, meaning there wasn't enough evidence to overturn the call.

Bochy is now 21-for-34 in challenges this season.
