Holland feels good after bullpen session

DETROIT -- Closer Greg Holland was not going to be used on Tuesday night, manager Ned Yost said after the Royals' 4-2 loss to the Tigers.

Yost made the decision after Holland played catch shortly before the game.

"I wasn't going to use him tonight. He felt it just a tinge on his side," Yost said. "So it was much better than it was yesterday. I wasn't going to use him today, but we'll see tomorrow. He's getting real close."

Holland has not pitched since last Wednesday because of a tight right triceps. A throwing session on Monday went well.

"It felt pretty good," Holland said. "It's getting better."
