MLB announces 2015 regular season schedule

Major League Baseball today announced its master 2015 regular season schedule, which will begin with ESPN's "Sunday Night Baseball" on April 5th . Details of the Opening Night contest are forthcoming. A full slate of 15 Opening Day games is currently set for Monday, April 6th.

The 15 games comprising Opening Day include 12 divisional match-ups and an Interleague contest between the host Philadelphia Phillies and the Boston Red Sox. Seven games are scheduled for Tuesday, April 7th before all 30 teams take the field once again on Wednesday, April 8th.

The 2015 schedule contains World Series rematches from three of the last six seasons, including a 2010 Fall Classic rerun between the San Francisco Giants and the Texas Rangers in Arlington from July 31st-August 2nd. In a clash between the 2009 World Series participants, the Phillies will play at the New York Yankees from June 22nd-24th, and the Tampa Bay Rays will visit the Phillies from July 20th-22 nd in a rematch of the 2008 Fall Classic.

The final day of the 2015 regular season, featuring 12 divisional games, is scheduled for Sunday, October 4th. Other important dates next season include Jackie Robinson Day on Wednesday, April 15th; the first day of the 2015 MLB Draft on Monday, June 8th; and Baseball's 86 th All-Star Game at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati on Tuesday, July 14th.
