Belt could resume baseball activities Monday

DETROIT -- Giants first baseman Brandon Belt is nearing a return to baseball activities. That return could come as early as Monday.

Belt is recovering from vision problems that stem from a concussion. The remainder of his rehab schedule isn't completely mapped out, manager Bruce Bochy said Sunday.

"We'll really go as he feels," Bochy said. "You can ramp it up, as well, without taking any risks with him."

Belt has played in just 51 games this season, and his numbers are down. He's batting .237 with an on-base percentage of .296.

First baseman/outfielder Michael Morse took a day off from treatment on his strained oblique Sunday. Bochy upgraded his status to day to day, despite some lingering soreness in the injured area from an injection.
