Scioscia challenges pickoff call, play stands vs. Twins

MINNEAPOLIS -- Angels manager Mike Scioscia lost his challenge in the first inning on Sunday, when umpires ruled that the call on the field stands on C.J. Wilson's attempted pickoff.

Wilson spun quickly and fired a strike to second baseman Howie Kendrick, who looked like he may have put the tag on Twins second baseman Brian Dozier just before diving back to the bag. But second-base umpire Bill Welke initially ruled him safe, and replay apparently didn't provide conclusive enough evidence to overturn the call.

Scioscia is now 17-for-31 in getting calls overturned this season.
