Kelly inducted into Latino Baseball Hall of Fame

Giants first-base coach misses series opener in Detroit to attend ceremony

DETROIT -- Giants first-base coach Roberto Kelly was absent from his usual post Friday night as he was inducted into the Latino Baseball Hall of Fame.

Joining Kelly in this year's class were Nomar Garciaparra, Carlos Delgado, Luis Gonzalez, Ozzie Guillen and Pedro Martinez.

Kelly was a career .290 hitter, playing for eight teams in 14 seasons. He was also a two-time All-Star.

Filling in for Kelly as first-base coach on Friday was defensive coordinator Jose Alguacil.
