Morse receives cortisone injection for oblique

DETROIT -- Giants outfielder/first baseman Michael Morse received a cortisone injection for his strained right oblique.

Manager Bruce Bochy all but ruled Morse out for any point of the Giants' weekend series against the Tigers, which started on Friday.

"He could be ready next series [against the D-backs]," Bochy said.

Morse will work with the club's physical therapist this weekend and will be evaluated once again when the Giants return home from their current road trip.

The 32-year-old is batting .280 with 16 homers, 61 RBIs and a .477 slugging percentage.
