Hamilton feeling better but rests sore shoulder

MINNEAPOLIS -- As expected, Josh Hamilton was out of the lineup on Friday because of lingering soreness in his right AC joint. He exited Thursday's 5-4 win in the middle of the eighth inning and received a cortisone shot following the game. He felt "a lot better" by Friday, manager Mike Scioscia said, and is expected to return "in the next day or two."

In other injury news, lefty reliever Joe Thatcher, on the disabled list since Aug. 3 with a sprained left ankle, took part in some fielding practice on Friday, one day after throwing a 20-pitch simulated game. He is slated to pitch in a Minor League game on Sunday, with three of the Angels' affiliates in the playoffs, and could be activated by the end of next week.
