Worth noting

• Jimmy Nelson will start Sunday's four-game series finale against the first-place Cardinals, marking another round the Brewers have made with a six-man rotation. Roenicke, however, said that the team won't stick with six long-term, and only did so to ease Matt Garza, Wednesday's starter, back from a one-month stead with a rib injury.

"We're not going to keep doing this, no," Roenicke said. "We just thought with Garza going tomorrow, probably not going to have the length. Then we'll see where he is and then we'll adjust after that."

Roenicke also said the team is done calling up pitchers this season "unless something happens."

• Elian Herrera started Tuesday's game at shortstop and batted eighth. Herrera hit .333 (12-for-36) in August with three extra-base hits and two RBIs in 14 games, including nine starts.
