• Dustin Pedroia is still dealing with symptoms related to the concussion he suffered on Saturday night at Tropicana Field.
"Yesterday when he tried some activity, he didn't feel quite right, and I say that only because it's hard for me to categorize or specifically define what he's feeling," said Farrell. "There's some inconsistencies with his sleep. These are symptoms consistent with a concussion and we've got to be cautious with this and go day to day."
• Even though the arrival of Castillo figures to create a log-jam in Boston's outfield, Farrell won't move Betts back to the infield this season.
"In fairness to Mookie, we've put a lot on his plate," Farrell said. "He's handled everything we've asked of him very well, including steady development in the outfield. His reads and routes have become more consistent, and for us to make another shift I think is not fair to him. He's settling in at the big league level and doing a very good job on both sides of the ball and we don't want to do anything to potentially disrupt that."
