• Starting pitcher Tyson Ross was named as the Padres' recipient of the Heart and Hustle Award by the Major League Baseball Players Association. The award honors players who "embody the values, spirit and tradition of the game" according to the announcement. Ross will receive the award from former Padres pitcher Randy Jones at a ceremony at Petco Park on Tuesday.

• Black said the club is also considering adding a third catcher to the roster before the end of the season. Black did not anticipate any other roster additions.
