Seattle Mariners "Favorite Things"

Seattle Mariners players have picked out their "favorite things"-from DVDs and CDs to snack foods and hobbies-thrown in a trove of autographed items, and are offering them for auction on Friday, August 29, during the Mariners vs. Washington Nationals game at Safeco Field. Proceeds will benefit Mariners Care, the team's non-profit foundation.

Mariners Wives have assembled baskets filled with items personally selected by the players. The baskets will be on display during the August 29 game near Section 128 on the Main Concourse at Safeco Field. Silent bids will be accepted from the time the gates open through the end of the 6th inning.

Third baseman Kyle Seager's has mementos of his All-Star appearance including an autographed American League All-Star T-shirt. He also included autographed shoes, batting gloves and a ball, and a game-used autographed bat. Seager's basket also includes gift cards for iTunes, Jamba Juice, Subway and Chipotle.

Among the items in the basket of come-back player of the year candidate Chris Young is an autographed Alex Ovechkin #8 Washington Capitals sweater and hockey puck, as well as a pair of his size 16 game-used cleats, autographed.

Catcher Mike Zunino included an autographed bat and ball as well as game-used autographed shoes and batting gloves. He also included Mike & Ike candy, Pringles potato chips and DVDs of the movies 42 and Step Brothers.

Among the highlights of other baskets are a ball autographed by the entire team and a brand new pitcher's glove in Danny Farquhar's basket, a ball autographed by the Mariners record-setting bullpen and a pound of custom-roasted Honduras Rainforest Alliance "El Jaguar" coffee in Tom Wilhelmsen's basket. Proceeds from the auction of the Favorite Things baskets will benefit Mariners Care, the team's nonprofit foundation which supports primarily youth-oriented charities throughout the Pacific Northwest. Mariners Care, in partnership with the team's corporate partners, has provided $14.8 million for regional charitable programs and causes since 2000.
