Worth noting

• The Rays entered Saturday's game against Toronto with a 2.24 ERA since the All-Star break, which is the top mark in baseball. Tampa Bay has lowered its ERA in every month this season, and the staff is on line to set the record for most strikeouts in a season. The Rays have 1,153 punchouts and they are on pace for 1,459, which would surpass the all-time mark of 1,428, set by the 2013 Detroit Tigers.

• Catcher Ryan Hanigan (left oblique) caught seven innings and went 2-for-3 Friday in his first rehab game with Class A Advanced Charlotte since a setback in early August. David DeJesus (left hand), meanwhile, played five innings in left field and went 1-for-2 in the same game. The two will both play again Saturday with the Stone Crabs. Hanigan is expected to DH, while DeJesus will patrol left field again.

"They did well. They were both fine; there's nothing negative," Maddon said.
