Smoke signals

• Major League Baseball has charged Indians first baseman Carlos Santana with a missed-catch error on the play that originally netted Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter an infield single in the first inning on Aug. 8 in New York. As a result, Tribe starter Trevor Bauer's line for that outing now has only three earned runs among the five he allowed.

• On Tuesday, the Indians named Rookie-level first baseman Bobby Bradley the organization's Minor League player of the week for the period of Aug. 11-17. In that span, the 18-year-old Bradley (a third-round pick by Cleveland in the First-Year Player Draft in June) hit .400 (6-for-15) with two homers, two doubles and 10 RBIs in four games.

• Tom Hamilton, the radio voice of the Indians, celebrated his 58th birthday on Tuesday. Cleveland's longtime play-by-play man is in his 25th season calling games for the Tribe.
