Worth noting

• Hamilton went 0-for-3 with a hit-by-pitch in his return to the lineup Tuesday after missing the last two games, making him five for his last 41. Hamilton filed out to left and center field and lined out to first base.

• Left-handed-hitting outfielder Brennan Boesch has started six of the last seven games, including Tuesday's, with Scioscia preferring him over left-handed-hitting first baseman and outfielder Efren Navarro because he "has the power element." Boesch entered Tuesday 0-for-14 since his recent callup and was 0-for-3 in the game, but doubled in the ninth and scored the winning run on Iannetta's RBI double.

• Pitching prospect Mark Sappington began the season as a starter for Double-A Arkansas and is now a closer for Class A Inland Empire. The 23-year-old had a 7.05 ERA as a starter and a 3.24 ERA since going to the bullpen in early July. The Angels believe his high energy may play in the bullpen, but aren't sure if the move is permanent.
