Today is the Anniversary of Wade Boggs Unveiling His Knuckler

Make it dance.

On August 19, 1997, now-Hall of Fame third baseman Wade Boggs made his first professional appearance on the mound. He worked an inning of scoreless relief for the Yankees, unleashing a vicious knuckleball on the unsuspecting Angels batters.

Mike Carp was clearly inspired by Boggs earlier this season, when he delivered some slightly less effective knucklers in an appearance for the Red Sox.
