Worth noting

• The Padres have set their rotation for the upcoming three-game series with the Dodgers in Los Angeles. The team will send Ian Kennedy to the mound Tuesday followed by Eric Stults on Wednesday and Tyson Ross in Thursday's finale.

• First baseman Yonder Alonso, who exited Tuesday's game with a right forearm strain, was examined by doctors and a hand specialist in San Diego on Saturday. The team expects to have more information on his prognosis Sunday.

• Outfielder Cameron Maybin, who was suspended 25 games in July after testing positive for amphetamines, must be activated by the team Wednesday, manager Bud Black said. Maybin made an appearance at Triple-A on Friday, his first since the suspension, going 0-for-1 with a pair of walks.

• Joe Wieland, who is recovering from right elbow surgery in March, made his first appearance at Triple-A on Friday, tossing six innings on 68 pitches while allowing two runs. Wieland has now made six Minor League appearances.
