VIERA, Fla. -- Nationals right-hander Stephen Strasburg will not pitch against the Red Sox on Saturday. Instead, he will prepare for his first game on April 11, when he pitches for Double-A Harrisburg against Altoona.
General manager Mike Rizzo confirmed the start.
No reason was given as to why Strasburg wasn't pitching Saturday. Some in the organization were hoping that Strasburg would get a taste of the big leagues -- pitching at Nationals Park and in front of a large crowd.
Strasburg, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2009 First-Year Player Draft, had three spring starts for the Nationals, allowing two runs on in nine innings and striking out 12 batters.
