Worth noting

• The Rangers have promoted outfielder Nick Williams from Class Myrtle Beach to Double-A Frisco. Williams, the Rangers' No. 4 prospect according to MLB.Com, was a second-round pick in 2012. He played in 94 games at Myrtle Beach and hit .292 with 13 home runs, 70 RBIs and a .491 slugging percentage.

• Phil Klein pitched 2 2/3 scoreless innings for the Rangers on Thursday, retiring eight straight batters with five strikeouts. After allowing home runs in his first two outings, Klein has pitched 4 2/3 scoreless innings, allowed one hit and struck out seven.

Said Klein, "I just went out there and did what I have been doing all year: fastball/slider, just keep the ball down, in and out, see what happens."
