Worth noting

• Despite all the drama that comes with it, Gibbons said he enjoys the non-waiver Trade Deadline every year.

"For baseball, it's kind of an exciting time," Gibbons said. "It gets everyone interested. Even before when we've been out of the thing, I've followed that pretty closely. I got no idea if we're going to do anything else, so I don't get caught up too much in that."

• Gibbons had Juan Francisco play designated hitter Wednesday because he wanted Anthony Gose in right field and so that he could pinch-hit for Francisco with a righty easily if need be. Jose Bautista played first Wednesday, while Colby Rasmus, who was DH Tuesday, played center.
