Shane Mora, a 14-year-old with Hodgkin's Lymphoma from Luna, New Mexico, will be visiting Fenway Park today fulfilling his wish to meet Xander Bogaerts. The club routinely partners with the Make-A-Wish Foundation to make such dreams come true.
CVS Hitting Clinic, Tuesday, July 29, and Wednesday, July 30
On July 29 and 30, Red Sox Assistant Hitting Coach Victor Rodriguez, in partnership with CVS, will host a hitting clinic for children at Fenway Park starting at 11:30 a.m.
Covidien Double Play Health and Fitness Workshop, Tuesday, July 29
Children will learn the benefits of exercise and healthy eating choices at a health and fitness workshop at Fenway Park on Tuesday. The event, which is presented by Covidien and the Red Sox Foundation, features advice from Red Sox players, Red Sox Strength and Conditioning Coach Pat Sandora, as well as dieticians and chefs.
Napoli's Bearded Bunch, Tuesday, July 29
Mike Napoli will host and meet with patients and families from Boston Children's Hospital before the Red Sox-Blue Jays game as part of his "Bearded Bunch" program for kids who are being treated at this facility.
Sox Talk, Wednesday, July 30
Red Sox players and coaches will participate in a baseball clinic with children at Satori Stadium in East Boston from noon to 1:30 p.m. as part of the Boston Parks & Recreation Department's "Sox Talk" program.
Fan Photo Day, Wednesday, July 30
On Wednesday, July 30, the club will host Player/Fan Photo Sessions, presented by Nikon, at the Souvenir Store on Yawkey Way. Fans can meet and take photos with "a player to be named later" following batting practice.
Flyin' Hawaiian All Stars, Wednesday, July 30
As part of his program for kids, Shane Victorino will meet with and host a group of high-school aged children from Rediscovery at JRI, an organization that offers services to unaccompanied, homeless high school students and youth who are aging out of foster care.
Red Sox Foundation Volunteers Honored, Wednesday, July 30
The Red Sox Foundation will recognize volunteers and businesses who donate time and services to the charity in a pregame ceremony before the Red Sox-Blue Jays game. About 50 of the more than 700 volunteers who support the foundation each year will be recognized on the field. Peter Greenberg, a Red Sox Foundation volunteer since 2010, and Jack Rabbit Design, a brand design firm that volunteers its services, will both be given the "Most Valuable Volunteer" award.
Buchholz Bowl, Thursday, July 31
Clay and Lindsay Buchholz will host the 2nd annual Buchholz Bowl from 6-10 p.m. at Lucky Strike Lanes (Jillian's). The event helps Clay's foundation provide health, educational, and sports opportunities for children in need.
Make-A-Wish, Saturday, August 2
In conjunction with the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Trace McWhirt, a 16-year-old with leukemia from Rogers, Oklahoma, will fulfill his wish of attending a Red Sox game on August 2.
Monster Mash, Saturday, August 2
The Red Sox Foundation will host their annual Monster Mash event, where they take over the Green Monster section of the ballpark during a game as a fundraiser benefiting their Red Sox Scholars and RBI programs.
Make-A-Wish, Sunday, August 3
Before the Red-Sox-Yankees game on Sunday, 5-year-old Rhys Schillinger of Park City, Utah, who was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS), will meet David Ortiz. The meeting is taking place in coordination with the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Red Sox Foundation Golf Tournament, Monday, August 4
Red Sox Foundation Honorary Chairman Tim Wakefield will host the inaugural Red Sox Foundation Golf Tournament at Belmont Country Club from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. The event features golf with Red Sox alumni and former Boston athletes, and benefits the foundation and Franciscan Hospital for Children.
