NEW YORK -- Yankees slugger Brian McCann started a home run trot, then hesitated at second base before finally jogging off the field.
Leading off the bottom of the second inning of Tuesday night's 2-1, 14-inning win over the Rangers at Yankee Stadium, McCann lifted a 1-1 fastball from Nick Martinez to right-center field. Center fielder Leonys Martin coasted over, timed a jump for the fly ball perfectly and stretched out his glove just in front of the wall to rob McCann of extra bases.
After initially squeezing his glove, Martin lost control, allowing the ball to pop out. Martin kept it from falling into the field of play, though, recovering on the fly and quickly cradling his momentary bobble.
