Worth noting

• Left-hander Derek Holland, who is recovering from offseason knee surgery, threw live batting practice in Arizona on Saturday. Rangers general manager Jon Daniels said earlier in the week that he hopes to have Holland back in the rotation around the end of August.

• Texas has granted infielder Kensuke Tanaka his release from Triple-A Round Rock. Tanaka hit .258/.340/.371 with four homers and 12 stolen bases in 62 games with the Express.

• Lefty Joseph Ortiz, who has been on the 60-day disabled list all season with a fractured left foot, was sent to the Arizona Rangers on a rehab assignment. Ortiz tossed a scoreless inning Friday in his first appearance of the season.

• First baseman/outfielder Jim Adduci, on a rehab assignment at Triple-A Round Rock, went 2-for-5 with an RBI for the Express on Saturday. Washington said the "possibility is strong" that Adduci -- who hasn't played with the Rangers since April 17 due to a fractured left pinkie finger, which he re-broke in June -- could rejoin Texas on Monday in New York against the Yankees.
