Worth noting

• Right fielder Shane Victorino shagged fly balls during Red Sox batting practice Wednesday and Farrell said he hopes the injured outfielder will take BP on Friday. Victorino has played in just 21 games this season due to a right hamstring injury and lower back soreness.

• Of the Red Sox's last 17 games, 11 have been decided by one run, with Boston going 6-5.

"You are looking at a total of one-run games being up around the game, evident I think with offense being down more around both leagues," Farrell said. "Winning one-run games is going to come down to a good bullpen and some timely hitting. You are looking at a narrow gap across the board."
