• Pitcher Andrew Cashner, on the disabled list since June 21 with right shoulder soreness, will play catch for the first time on Wednesday since landing on the DL. There's no timeline for his return.

• Left-handed reliever Troy Patton, on the disabled list since June 14 with a left shoulder fatigue, will rest and rehabilitate his shoulder after getting a second opinion from noted orthopedist Dr. James Andrews. There's no timeline to when Patton will return.

• Second baseman Jedd Gyorko had the protective boot removed from his left foot on Tuesday. Gyorko, on the DL since June 4 with plantar fasciitis, will now begin a strengthening and stretching program. There's no timeline as to when he might return.
