Hanley back in lineup after missing four games

LOS ANGELES -- About an hour before Saturday's game, Hanley Ramirez went from sitting out his fifth straight game to starting at shortstop and batting third.

Manager Don Mattingly had initially penciled in Miguel Rojas at shortstop but didn't rule out a lineup change. Ramirez played catch on the field during Cardinals batting practice, testing out his arthritic right shoulder.

Ramirez had grabbed a bat and was prepared to pinch-hit in the ninth inning of Friday's game. But he never got the chance -- the Dodgers lost 3-1 to the Cardinals.

"He's gotten to the point where he's good enough to hit," Mattingly said before Saturday's game. "It really changes things as long as have him as a pinch-hitter. At that point, you have another player. You're not playing short."
