Pipeline preview: Pirates' Bell tolls for Bradenton

Ask not for whom the Bell tolls. It tolls for thee.

That's what fans of the Bradenton Marauders have been saying lately. Pirates outfield prospect Josh Bell, ranked No. 59 on MLB.com's Top 100 prospects list, puts his 11-game hitting streak on the line tonight in a 6:30 ET start against the Jupiter Hammerheads.

Bell, just named to the 2014 SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game, has been as hot as any hitter in the Minor Leagues of late, hitting .425/.482/.712 in 19 games this month. The Pirates' No. 6 prospect is now third in the Florida State League with his .335 batting average and second with his .518 slugging percentage.

Wednesday's Minor League schedule will also be highlighted by several pitchers ranked in the Top 100 who are scheduled to start, including Aaron Sanchez (No. 19), Henry Owens (No. 26), Kohl Stewart (No. 32) and Anthony Ranaudo (No. 92) Fans can watch all but Stewart on MiLB.TV, beginning with Owens and Double-A Portland hosting New Hampshire at 6 p.m. ET.

Owens, the Red Sox's No. 1 prospect, enters the day on a five-start winning streak. He has allowed just one run in 35 2/3 innings durirng the streak, which began with seven scoreless innings against New Hampshire on May 24. Overall this season, Owens is 9-3 and leads the Eastern League in ERA (1.99) and strikeouts (89).
