The blast was Kinsler's eighth home run of the season and gave Detroit back-to-back home runs after outfielder Rajai Davis hit a solo shot in the previous at-bat. The play also chased Bauer, who ended the night charged with four runs on eight hits, including three homers, over 6 1/3 innings.
"I felt like I maintained my stuff all night," Bauer said. "I think the one that Kinsler hit was 96 [mph], so it wasn't a lack of stuff. It was a lack of execution."
The last time the Tigers' lineup managed homers in consecutive at-bats was June 5, when Torii Hunter and Kinsler went back-to-back against the Red Sox.
