Chris Coghlan, who went 2-for-3 with a triple and home run on Friday, was hitting leadoff for Saturday's game. Renteria said that's doesn't mean Luis Valbuena, who is hitting fifth, won't go back to the top of the order.

"He's had some good at-bats and is driving the ball … but it allows me to but Val back in the five spot again," Renteria said. "Not to say I won't use Val in the No. 1 spot again, but it just opens it up for us a little bit."

• Cubs starters have recorded 36 quality starts this season, yet have only 17 individual wins from starters in those games. The club is 19-17 overall in those games, but has won 12 of its last 15 games in which it has received a quality start.
