Henderson Alvarez Begins Game with Unique Windup

Creative first pitch.

Marlins starter Henderson Alvarez began Friday's game against the Mets with an elaborate windup. Alvarez stepped toward home plate with his left foot and got low to the ground before getting into his windup and delivering the game's first pitch.

The extended windup has become a routine of sorts for Alvarez. Perhaps it's a superstition. He certainly wouldn't be the only player in the league with superstitious rituals.
