Worth noting

• Outfielder Coco Crisp, whose all-out style of play was on full display Tuesday when he crashed into the wall while attempting a catch, was held out of the lineup for Wednesday's series finale against the Rangers.

"He's a little beat up again," said Melvin. "He was progressing quite a bit with the neck, and I'm not sure that helped yesterday. I was considering giving him a day off anyway, and after that, definitely the right thing to do."

Craig Gentry made the start in center field in Crisp's stead.
