A hail storm delayed the start of the game by 90 minutes, before designated hitter Adam Kirsch provided the game's only run with an RBI double in the top of the fourth inning, as the Texas Tech topped the College of Charleston, 1-0, to earn its first trip to Omaha in the program's history.
Virginia had 17 hits as the Cavaliers topped Maryland, 7-3, to force a decisive Game 3 on Monday. First baseman Mike Papi, who was selected 38th overall in the Draft by the Indians, went 3-for-5 with and RBI and a run scored to lead the way. Center fielder Brandon Downes, who the Royals picked in the seventh round, went 2-for-5 with and RBI.
West Coast Conference pitcher of the year, left-hander Aaron Brown, who was selected as an outfielder in the third round of the Draft by the Phiilies, tossed seven scoreless innings, as Pepperdine topped TCU, 3-2, to force a decisive Game 3 on Monday. Brown then went 1-for-3 with a walk at the plate after moving from the mound to center field. He also cut down a potential game-tying run with an assist on a play at the plate in the top of the eighth inning in the Waves' win.
Left-hander Christian Trent, who was drafted in the 29th round by the Dodgers, gave up one unearned run over seven innings and righty reliever Aaron Greenwood, who was selected in the 28th round by the Astros, pitched the final two frames and earned the win as Ole Miss topped Louisiana-Lafayette, 5-2, to force a decisive game 3 on Monday.
