• The Rangers placed pitcher Martin Perez on the 60-day disabled list on Tuesday, one day after he had Tommy John elbow reconstruction surgery. He is expected to be sidelined for at least a year.
• Matt Harrison, who is on the disabled list with severe nerve irritation in his back, is planning to return home to North Carolina while the Rangers are on the road. Harrison wants to use the time to decide if he will have surgery on his back or try to pitch through the pain.
