Tejada, 39, last played in the big leagues for the Royals in 2013, seeing time in 53 games and batting .288 with three homers and 20 RBIs.
Tejada is a six-time All-Star who finished first in the 2002 American League Most Valuable Player Award voting while with the A's.
According to ESPNDeportes.com, Tejada -- who has tested positive three times for amphetamines, most recently while with Kansas City -- will be eligible to return to the big leagues after May 31.
