PHILADELPHIA -- Vice President Joe Biden and his wife, Dr. Jill Biden -- among the Phillies' biggest and most well-known fans -- were in the crowd at Citizens Bank Park for Saturday night's Game 3 of the 105th World Series.
It was the second time in three games this series that Dr. Biden has seen her beloved defending champs, having grown up as a Phillies fan in the Philadelphia area. She attended the opener at Yankee Stadium along with first lady Michelle Obama, to bring attention to Major League Baseball's Welcome Back Veterans initiative. During last year's campaign, Dr. Biden logged thousands of miles with her husband -- but only six days before Election Day, she was lured to her hometown by the possibility of a World Series title. "I gotta tell ya, my wife, I'm on the campaign trail, she says, 'Joe, I'm going to the Series.'" then-Sen. Joe Biden said of his wife's decision to go home and watch her team at that time. Dr. Biden and her granddaughter, Maisy, were in the towel-waving crowd on Oct. 29, 2008, to watch in person as the Phillies clinched against Tampa Bay.
