Postseason Predictions: ALCS Game 5

It's been some postseason for the Yankees, who look to punch a ticket to the World Series Thursday with a victory over the Angels in Game 5 of the American League Championship Series, scheduled for 7:57 p.m. ET on FOX.

The Yankees have a 3-1 series lead, their only postseason loss coming in an 11-inning affair in Game 3.

Now it's do or die for the Angels, who need three consecutive victories to pull off a dramatic upset.

While the Yankees offense -- with red-hot slugger Alex Rodriguez leading the way -- has earned most of the headlines, it's been pitching that has separated the AL East champs from the competition.

New York ranks first among the eight playoff clubs with a sparkling 1.91 postseason ERA, more than a run better than the next best squad.

A.J. Burnett -- he of the 2.19 ERA in two postseason starts -- will look to follow the gem that ace CC Sabathia tossed in Game 4 and help the Yankees earn their first Fall Classic berth since 2003.

"Yeah, this is why I signed -- the opportunity to pitch in the postseason," Burnett said. "The first year over here, I have an opportunity, so I'm taking full advantage of it. I cannot wait until tomorrow."

Only time will tell if the hard-throwing right-hander will make the most of his long-awaited opportunity.
